About City

Amsterdam is derived  from Amstelredamme wich is the indicative of the city’s origin around a dam in the river Amstel. It is the  capital of Netherlands. Amsterdam became one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age (17th century), a result innovative developments in trade is started. During that time, the city was the leading center for finance and diamonds. As of September 2018, the population of Amsterdam is about 850,000 people. Its urban area has about 1,350,000 people and metropolitan area has 2,420,000.. Amsterdam is located in the Zone of  ‘Noord-Holland’, situated in the west. It is one of the most popular destinations in Europe, receiving more than 4.5 million tourists annually.
It is very unique for its large and intact historic center. Amsterdam covers a total area of 219 square kilometers (85 square miles), of which 165 square kilometers (64 square miles) is land and 54 km (21 square miles) is water. The city is about 2 meters (6.6 feet) below sea level. Amsterdam is having a great history. It is a meeting point for all different cultures around the world and has a welcoming attitude towards visitors.  It is the Well known  place for its museums, red light district, coffee shops but also the great variety of eating & drinking places and night life. It even insist to be the ‘Gay capital of Europe’. There are  lot of hotels ,hostels ,antique houses, lovely bridges, famous  canals the river Amstel ends in the city center and connects to a large number of canals and of course the list of world class attractions! can be found on different locations, that which  values  for money and ambience. The city’s three main canals are the Prinsengracht, Herengracht, and Keizersgracht  which are navigable by boat. It has been compared with Venice, due to its division into about 90 islands, which are linked by more than 1,200 bridges. Today, Amsterdam is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.
